Spring Foto Fling

Free Foto Fling Image Analysis Workshop

To registrants/attendees:

All members who have registered to attend DVCCC's free Foto Fling Image Analysis workshop, either as active participants or observers, on April 25 in Maple Shade, please be aware that the doors will open at 8:15 for the free continental breakfast, available until the workshop begins at 9 am.  Be sure to bring pencil and paper.   We will let you know on Friday, after registration is complete, how many attendees can be included as active participants.  Observers will also have a good learning experience.

All attending registrants will be eligible to enter the council's annual individual competition to be judged at the end of the day.  To qualify, they must be appropriately sized and titled according to the rules and emailed to mhriddle@verizon.net with "DVCCC Foto Fling” in the subject line before midnight on Thursday April 23.  Images winning an award in a previous Foto Fling contest are not eligible.

Image submission rules can be downloaded here.

To Club Presidents:

If your members have ever wondered what a judge considers when scoring images, or if they might like to become judges themselves, don't let them miss this opportunity on April 25 at Maple Shade Complex, 200 Stiles Ave, Maple Shade, NJ.  Instead of our traditional Foto Fling schedule (contests in the morning and a speaker in the afternoon), the DVCCC is flying PSA's education director Jon Fishback in from Seattle WA to lead a free all-day Image Analysis workshop and to judge our annual individual contests.  He will work with 20 active participants from among the member clubs, and all others are invited to learn by observing.

We will accommodate as many from each club as possible and will welcome all the others as observers.  To secure a spot in either capacity, a confirmation fee of $20 per person (a personal check from each registrant, made out to DVCCC and mailed to Ken Sichel,26 Oriole Pl, Laurel Springs NJ 08021) must be received no later than Thurs, April 23.

The un-cashed checks will be returned to attendees upon arrival; all others will then be cashed--in other words, if you say you are coming and you do, the event will be FREE, but this is necessary in order to get an accurate count of ALL who plan to attend, since a complimentary breakfast and lunch will be provided for everyone.  (Unregistered members cannot be accommodated, but a registrant who becomes unable to attend can give his place to an unregistered member.)

More details will follow, including times and information on entering the individual contests held annually in connection with the Foto Fling.  But in order not to miss out, register now by emailing to Ltmphoto@juno.com the list of those from your club who wish to be active participants, and mailing the individual checks to Ken from everyone who will attend to participate OR observe.

This workshop is based on PSA's personalized online Image Analysis course, which enrollees have found to be very worthwhile, whether they intend to become judges or just want to know what other judges may be looking for. To have Jon here in person is a unique opportunity for our members.  Encourage them to take advantage of it!
